My top ten favourite music albums
See Getting personal: A few top ten lists for the background on this series of top ten posts (this is the first post in the series).
So. Music albums. Some people can listen to whatever happens to be on the radio and be happy with that. I’ve never been that way – music has been too important to me, especially since my early teens. As you’ll see on this list my taste spans multiple genres.
The list is ordered alphabetically, which means I have not ranked these albums. Picking just ten is hard enough as it is.
- Big Calm by Morcheeba
- Bites and Remission by Skinny Puppy
- Comfort Woman by Me’Shell NdegeOcello
- Dummy by Portishead
- First and Last and Always by The Sisters of Mercy
- Never Never Land by U.N.K.L.E.
- New Gold Dream by Simple Minds
- Pornography by The Cure
- The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste by Ministry
- Tired Eyes Slowly Burning by The Tear Garden
Of course this sort of list is always changing – ask me next month and the list will probably be quite different.
Now it’s your turn – which are your ten favourite music albums? If you want to share, do so either by posting a comment with your list or by posting a link to a list on your own blog.

The two with links are both from New Zealand - Bleeding Star I recommend to anyone who like Cure style melancholy guitar, and Hollie Smith to anyone who loves sweet soulful femal vocals in the style of Norah Jones. There are samples at the end of both links.
Writing these lists are damn hard! I’ll give it a quick try though..
mine own top X in no particular order
Dummy’ seems to be the ideal Graphic Designers soundtrack and there seems to be a Gothic bent to the list.
I suppose you could say these are the ones that blew my mind and still stay with me. Pure comfort food…
Boy, I wouldn’t dare making a top ten. Just like you said: “next month it’s probably quite different” :)
But my list would probably contain artists like DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, RJD2, Scratch Perverts, Fila Brazillia, and/or St Germain.
Also, I can’t wait for Uffie’s first official album.
Without a specific order, here it comes:
This will probably change if you ask me again next week. ;)
I don’t really do albums… I tend to just put everything I have into a big playlist and stick it on random. Still, there are some things I like most of the time:

I had already thought you were a top bloke, but to then go and have albums by Sisters of Mercy and Ministry on there…
well, mate, I think that next time (if) I ever meet you in person, I’ll definitely have to buy you a beer. With a ding-a-ling-a-dang-a-da-da-ding-dong-ding-a-lang-a-dong-waah-waah-waah-waah on the side.

Uuuf… that list was a hard task…
A bit of metadata: Señor Coconut, Lisa Carbon, The Stereonerds are some of the aliases of Uwe Schmidt (aka Atom Heart), a genius.
Your list is TOPS. Seriously, I couldn’t agree with your top 10 more…although, In Case You Didn’t Feel Like Showing Up (live) by Ministry is my favorite of theirs. Otherwise…tops! Ahoy.

Oh! Tear Garden! Sisters! The Cure! - they all went when I sold all my LPs - six crates… - because I just couldn’t see myself listening to LPs that were stored in the attic when I have a baby (two now) to take care of, and I needed the money…
But the Tear Garden is available on iTunes so maybe it’s time to revisit old friends…
