Interviewed for AppleMac.se

Eric Martinsson from the Swedish Apple blog AppleMac.se recently sent me an email with a few questions, including the following (translated from Swedish and edited):

  1. For how long have you been a Mac user, and what Macs have you had through the years?
  2. Which Apple and Mac products do you currently use?
  3. In your opinion, what makes the Mac such a good computer?
  4. Are you a gadget freak who always has to have the latest gizmos?
  5. What do you think of the iPhone and Mac OS X Leopard?
  6. What do you think will be the next Mac to be released or updated?
  7. Name five free Mac OS X applications that you have to have.

If you know Swedish, you can find my answers to those questions and a few others in Intervju med webbexperten Roger Johansson från Netrelations och 456 Berea Street. If you, like most of my readers, don’t know Swedish, well, you can always try one of them online translation tools for some hilarious fun ;-).

How long have you been running Macintosh and which computers have you owned?

The first time I used a Mac was, if I remember correctly, in 1988. I didn't really get it back then, but about a year later I used a Mac more and more, since I went to university and had access to different models. As time went by I realised that Mac worked better than the alternative for me. I bought my first self-owned Mac in 1994. I was graduating from the university and needed a Mac at home. I got a used Macintosh IIfx with astonishing 16 MB RAM and 24 bit graphics card. It even had two floppy drives. A real monster at the time. After that, I've had these Macs in chronological order: [list]

I'ts atleast the first question :) (I'm still a bit drunk, so don't bash me for lousy translation)

  1. I have been a Mac user for just about two years. In early 2005 a friend of mine had convinced me to switch but I could not afford an expensive Mac, besides I already had a computer that was doing its job. But then came the first release of the Mac mini and I was thrilled -> bought it the next day.
  2. Mac mini (G4), 1st generation iPod nano black
  3. simplicity, stability, the multitude of features, ...design...the "philosophy behind the computer"...
  4. Nope
  5. Would like to have both, great products
  6. Adium, MPEG Streamclip, iBackup, NicePlayer, QuickSilver

ErikHK: That's a decent translation. Thanks :-).

David: Ah, I didn't mean for everybody else to answer the questions, but hey, since you started, anyone is welcome to post their answers here as well ;-).

I only use iPod for 1-2 years. I'll buy a MAC Book this year. I'm always very interested in all the apple's new products, but it's seems that there is only a few people using apple's product in this country. iPhone haven't been out here.

Now you can help me with some Swedish ;)

@Jeremy:

those would indicate that the writer would have listed some online translation tools before he wrote that sentence, but he didn't ;)

Them is maybe a bit old english, but still good in my opinion. I, as a fantasy fan, love those kind of sentences.
