Connection07: a conference about the modern Web

So, let’s say you’re living in Sweden and want to go to a Web related conference. You’ve read about SXSW Interactive, Web Directions, Web Directions North, Webstock, @media, and others you want to attend. They’ve all been too far away, too expensive, or both.

Well, now there is a new option. On March 27, Connection07 takes place in Gothenburg. It is nowhere near the size of the big conferences, it isn’t really focused on Web design and development, and it is only a single day, but nevertheless it is a Web conference.

I’ll be there. I’d better be since I’ve been invited to speak. *Gulp*. My presentation, Design för dagens internet: Webbstandarder och tillgänglighet (“Design for today’s Internet: Web standards and accessibility”) will be in Swedish though, so at least I won’t have to worry about finding the right English words.

Among the other speakers are Henrik Torstensson and Fredrik Wackå, whose blogs I’ve been subscribing to for a long time.

If at all possible, register for the conference, take a day off to visit Gothenburg and join the fun at Connection07. Who knows, there may be time for a beer or two afterwards!

This sounds interesting indeed. I’ll see if it’s possible for me to attend, I sure hope so.

In any case, good luck with the speech!

  2. I’d ask if there’s going to be a podcast of the talks but I’m afraid my understanding of Swedish is non-existent!

  3. It’d probably be a good idea to at a “Country”-field to the registration-form, for the sake of being friendly towards your neighborhood countries. :-)

    Mikael: Thanks!

Rick: I don’t know if there will be podcasts, but yeah, if you don’t know Swedish that won’t do you much good.

Henrik: Good idea. Maybe you could tell that to the conference arrangers ;-).

  5. I’ll most certainly be there! I’m sure it’ll be a hit!

I really wish I could attend. It wouldn’t do me much good, however, since I don’t speak Swedish. Will you be translating the speech if it is recorded? Best of luck to you.

  7. Got the tickets, can’t wait. Really happy i’m able to attend!

  8. Hi, I saw this post about the conference and instantly thought it would be great to go there, as a break from the exam works. But do I need to get a (expensive) ticket via a company/employer? That would be pretty much impossible for me since I’m a student who would like to meet potential employers :)

  9. Just a note from one of the conference arrangers here: If you want to buy a ticket and are from another country just write it in the “Kommentar” section of the registration form or send us an email (which you can do on the registration page)

Hope to see you there and happy to see the fantastic repsonse we’re getting!

  10. Seems to be really nice, we are two coming from Skatteverket :)

Update: I’ll be attending, one way or another.

    See you all there!

  12. Here’s hoping this becomes an international conference next year :)

Nice to see some people will be there!

Dan: Looking for reasons to revisit Sweden, huh? ;-)

  14. I’ll be there! Roger, is that beer talk a promise??? :)

  15. Roger: precisely :D

  16. Dan, just pick a month :) I recommend the summer… although it would be hard to get people to attend during their holiday, but at least the weather would be ripe.

But hold that thought. We’ll see how this one makes out and see where we can go from there. ;)
