Geek Meet Gothenburg February 2007

Following the lead from our Geek Meet arranging friends in Stockholm, my colleague Anton Andreasson has finally got around to arranging something similar here in Gothenburg on February 8.

Somebody will be holding a presentation, and after that we can all chat about Web development stuff like, oh I don’t know, maybe HTML 5, CSS 3, JavaScript libraries, semantics, accessibility, and other geekery. Beer and snacks will be available.

The first ever Geek Meet Gothenburg will be held at the NetRelations office on February 8, starting at 18.00, ending when people leave I guess.

If you’re like me and feel that Stockholm is just a little bit too far for you to travel for a simple geek meet, perhaps Gothenburg is closer? If so, I hope to see you there!

Please leave a comment here if you’re interested.

YES! I spent the whole day being sad about not being able to come to GM STHLM the 11th.

I will be there. Promise.

2. January 3, 2007 by Olof Lönnroth

Of course I'm interested! Have been waiting for something like this for a long time :) Perfect!

3. January 3, 2007 by Anton Andreasson

Forgot to tell y'all that this will be a free (as in beer ;) event, or at least that's our goal. Hope this will be true for future gatherings too.

See you soon then. And thanks for all the thumbs up we've got so far! :)

4. January 3, 2007 by Jeena Paradies

Yeah, I'll be there! Gothenburg is only 42 minutes away. Stockholm is 4:17 hours away, both by train.

5. January 3, 2007 by Anders Tornblad

I'm there!

6. January 3, 2007 by Fredrik Frodlund

Loads of fun! If I can hook up sleeping arrangements, I'll stick around for it. It's a good thing to have relatives in town. :)

7. January 3, 2007 by jonathan nery

good to see some familiar names. count me in.

8. January 3, 2007 by Johan Olsson

I'll be there!! Great initiative!!

9. January 3, 2007 by Markus

So we're not to be confused with the fact that there's going to be a LAN called "Geekmeet" in Gothenburg in february? ;)

http://geekmeet.net/

So, the first "Geek Meet", not to be confused with the fifth "Geekmeet" ;)

10. January 4, 2007 by Jared

Roger - completely off topic here. But I noticed on your friend Anton's site an entry about a September 11 conspiracy theory book. I can't understand what he's written as its in Swedish. Just curious whether he is a 'believer' or not? Good luck with the meetings.

11. January 4, 2007 by Olof Lönnroth

Jared: According to that post, he hasn't read the book, only the review on Amazon, and thinks the book seems interesting. Nothing expressed on whether he believes it or not.

12. January 5, 2007 by Niklas Blomdalen

Nice, ill be there.

13. January 5, 2007 by Robert Nyman

...simple geek meet

Simple?! :-)

We even have a guest from the UK coming next time, so it's not that far from Gothenburg, is it? :-)

All kidding aside, I was talking with Anton about this and I'm really glad that you have finally managed to put it together in Gothenburg.

Good luck, and have a great time!

14. January 6, 2007 by Roger Johansson

Robert:

Simple?! :-)

Haha! I was trying to be ironic ;-).

Good luck, and have a great time!

Thanks!

15. January 7, 2007 by Johan Boström

If my boss gives med thursday and friday off, I'll be there!

Roger, are there any decent B&B:s somewhat near the NetRelations office and the central station?

16. January 7, 2007 by Achtentachtig

Gothenburg is indeed closer then Stockholm, but still to far away...from Rotterdam :-)

Have fun all!

17. January 7, 2007 by Roger Johansson

Johan: Great, hope to see you there! I really have no idea if there are any centrally located B&Bs. I'd try finding a reasonably priced hotel... but I don't know much about that either, sorry :/.

18. January 8, 2007 by Johan Boström

Hehe allright, I'll do some research :)

19. January 8, 2007 by Kristoffer Ahl

I will be there as well and I'm really looking forward to it!

20. January 8, 2007 by Kristoffer Ahl

Johan: You should try Hotell Opera . I stayed there once and they have ok rooms and resonable prices. And best of all it's very close to the central station (and Netrelations office if I'm not mistaken!?)

21. January 8, 2007 by Roger Johansson

And best of all it's very close to the central station (and Netrelations office if I'm not mistaken!?)

Yes, our office is a 3-4 minute walk from the central station. In the opposite direction of Hotel Opera though, but on the same street (the street has a different name where our office is).

22. January 9, 2007 by Bo bby Ong Wannelind

23. January 9, 2007 by Lars Gunther

29. January 19, 2007 by Damir

Ohh, crap... Good planning as usual. Of course I'm busy that day :( On the other hand... How many of you guys (girls) will be @media2007? It'd be great to meet some of you there. I've just registered so now I have another reason to desperately wait for those summer days.

30. January 22, 2007 by Thomas Lindbjer

I'll be showing up too.

31. January 24, 2007 by Malin

Why not Malmoe someday!? Gothenburg and Stockholm are way too far away ;)

32. January 29, 2007 by Daniel Gr

Det är så himla kul hur polishuset ser ut som "upp med händerna och sära på benen". Jag tror aldrig jag har haft så här roligt.. ;)

Kommr nog inte iaf, men kanske. Det är ändå 20 mil bort och jag är busy med jaspoid.

33. January 29, 2007 by Johan Boström

Crap, I won't be able to make it. My boss won't give me two days off, since he's in Thailand that week... Oh well. Better luck next time. Have fun, duuuuuudes! ;)

34. February 1, 2007 by Mattias Lundmark

Sounds like great fun! I'll bring a colleague from the web department here at Lavasoft. Beer and geeks - what can go wrong?

Hi guys, I've got some bad news for you... It seems like my camera decided to delete all my images, so I haven't got any Geek Meet photos to post at flickr.

Anyway, it was a really great evening. I'm longing for the next Geek Meet!
