Webben är inte öppen för alla

I’m featured in an article in this week’s edition of Swedish technical news magazine Ny Teknik. The article, Webben är inte öppen för alla (The web is not open to all), discusses the results of a recent survey in which I examined the accessibility and web standards compliance of 31 Swedish public sector websites.

Update: The results of the survey are now available online.

There’s also a related article in Computer Sweden: Offentliga webbplatser håller inte måttet.

Where can I find the survey?

It will be available online next week. I'll post the link here.

I agree it is stupid that it's the Swedish public that are paying for some of those inaccessible websites.

I also noted Tommy's Swedish Companies Registration Office was a fairly good example of one that considered applying a reasonable level of accessibility from reading the article.

I had no idea you knew Swedish, Robert :-)

Yes, seeing my tax money being spent on crappy sites bugs me. Tommy's site (well, his employer's site) is one of the extremely few Swedish public sector sites that are both standards compliant and accessible.

I don't know Swedish except for about a half-a-dozen or so words but I could get the gist. :)

This was a pleasant surprise!

And I'd like to add, Roger, that our office is not funded with tax money. :)
