Beatport 2.0 Comments

Eric Wahlforss has published some Beatport 2.0 Comments, in which he points out some problematic areas of the latest version of Beatport, an online store for electronic music.

I’ve never used Beatport myself, and after taking a quick look I think it’s safe to say that I won’t be back in a hurry. The developers need to brush up on usability and accessibility, and Eric’s comments are a great start.

To whom it may concern:

I am looking to create a website that looks similar to that site Beatport.com mentioned on this forum. Although it will not contain the same content (literature instead of music) I was wondering if anyone could give me a ballpark figure as to how much it would cost. Thank you in advance.

Beatport doesn't care about it's labels. After spending 8 months on Beatport our label was finally to be paid. Due to beatports practices of only paying you when you reach a certain amount (now set at $300), we had to wait 2 term quarters. Once it was time to be paid we waited 1 month for them to do accounting and then no payment. After a few phone calls and another mail out, no check. After a few more phone calls our label was treated to an email saying beatport will not sell our titles any longer. This store has forgotten who makes them their money. DO NOT SUPPORT BEAT PORT.... THEY HAVE FORGOTTEN THE FEELING!
