The :hover-experience
In August of last year I sent a message to the css-discuss mailing list, including a test case showing a frustrating IE/Win problem that I could not find any mention of. A couple of people on the list started dissecting the problem, and Ingo Chao’s article Quirky Percentages in IE6’s Visual Formatting Model provides an explanation of why the problem occurs.
Innumerable are the ways this evil browser has of driving web professionals insane.

Interesting. One of my friends who’s learning CSS came up against this on his first ‘solo’ CSS design. I’d not seen it before and none of the usual candidates (Holly hack etc.) proved successful. IE’s messed at times.
