Trackback ID?

How the hell do trackback ID:s work in Movable Type? I just can’t figure out how to find out what the corresponding trackback ID for an entry is so I can send it to mt-tb.cgi. I don’t want to use the popup window that seems to be the default in MT. I guess there’s something going on there that extracts the trackback ID, but I don’t know where to start looking.
