Joe Clark interview
Craig Saila has interviewed accessibility guru Joe Clark for Digital Web Magazine. When asked if he has seen an improvement in the accessibility of mainstream web sites lately, Joe Clark responds that he hasn’t:
Since accessibility is a subset of Web standards, “Web” developers’ near-total ignorance of standards also implies a near-total ignorance of accessibility.
I agree with that. I’ve seen this ignorance up close, even when working on web site projects that specifically require that the end result follows the WAI Guidelines. Even something as basic and simple as the alt attribute seems to be too difficult for some “web developers” to understand and use.
