Image tabs

At SimpleBits, Dan Cederholm has written a detailed explanation of how he implemented the navigation system for Fast Company by using an unordered list and background images. Since images don’t scale when text is resized, the technique explained in Accessible Image-Tab Rollovers uses a nice stylesheet-switching trick to load a different set of tab images with larger text.
