Standard Business
When I talk to people about building web sites, and we get to the details like standards and CSS, sometimes they will just look at me with a puzzled expression on their face and go ”So how is complying with standards better than not? If tables and proprietary markup works, it works, right?”. That’s when I either try to explain or just give up and leave the room or change the subject.
In The Business Benefits of Web Standards, Tristan Nitot of Netscape Communications lists some of the advantages of using standards. Maybe I should print some of these great articles and always keep them in my pocket, easily accessible. Of course, nothing will convince those who don’t want to be convinced. I’ll try not to waste my time and energy on that kind of people any more.
