RIP BUC
The Web Standards Project’s Browser Upgrade Campaign has been retired. Guess I have to go through a bunch of sites where I have used a hidden message to explain to users of non-compliant browsers why they should upgrade and change the link to the BUC to something else, or remove the link altogether.
After reading about the reasons for retiring the BUC I can’t say I disagree. It too was getting a bit old and outdated. The web is quite different now than it was back when the campaign started, and current browsers are pretty good. Plenty of bugs around, of course, and the most widely used browser is lagging behind several others when it comes to standards support, but compared to Netscape 4… wow.
